The Technology Behind BagAmp

We can’t make this point strongly enough. No other PA product on earth breaks as much new technology ground as BagAmp. We’ll give you the highlights and see if you agree.

BagAmp Technology

Audio Piston™ Loudspeakers

Normal speakers produce sound only from the stiff middle section of the cone, not from the rubber suspension ‘surround’ that holds the cone in place. This means a ‘five inch’ driver may only have three inches of stiff center cone area - the rest, the ‘surround,’ just holds it in place, producing no useful sound - or worse, creating out of phase sound.

In trying to make the BagAmp smaller, the first place we looked was how to make smaller speakers produce more sound. The Audio Piston™ full face drivers in BagAmp are our answer. The entire face of the speaker produces sound. So, our three inch driver is equivalent to most five inch normal cone drivers. That’s how we produce so much sound from such a tiny overall size.

Advanced Composite Materials

When reducing the weight of a loudspeaker product, especially one meant to be hauled around, standard materials can only be scaled down so far. A point is reached where wood enclosures simply are not strong enough for stiffness and reliability. For BagAmp we researched state of the art composite materials and have used a unique glass fiber reinforced ABS + Polycarbonate composite resin system that provides the acoustic dampening qualities of ABS plastic, but with the rigidity and structural strength of polycarbonate (sometimes called ‘bulletproof glass’).

With its high efficiency power amplifier and a powerful digital power supply, the mechanical innovation and electronics sophistication of BagAmp define the 21st century portable PA product.
